Wu Chu‑chu, born March 1, 1947 in Hankou (now Wuhan, China), is a Taiwanese folk musician recognized as one of Taiwan’s First Generation Folk Singers. After moving to Taiwan as a child, he developed an early passion for guitar and later became a key figure in Taiwan’s 1970s folk music movement.Known for works such as Your Song and Come Back, Wu’s music helped shape a new wave of Taiwanese cultural identity during a time of social and political transformation. He later founded the UFO Group, contributing to the development of Taiwan’s modern pop music industry and advocating strongly against music piracy.Today, Wu Chu‑chu remains remembered as an influential voice who helped inspire a generation to “sing their own songs.”
