The Sugar Land Heritage Foundation strives to inspire community pride by collecting, preserving, communicating and celebrating the history of Sugar Land, Texas. After its inception, the Sugar Land Heritage Foundation operated an interim museum on the historic Imperial Sugar site. In July of 2015, the City of Sugar Land proposed the 2nd floor of the Imperial Sugar Container Warehouse as the location for the permanent Sugar Land Heritage Museum & Visitor Center. In late 2016, designers and construction began on the interior renovation of this historic site. The Grand Opening was celebrated on January 27, 2018.

There are plenty of things for visitors to do at the Sugar Land Heritage Museum & Visitor Center. Visitors can walk around the museum, purchase Sugar Land branded merchandise, local tourism partner merchandise, receive information on what Sugar Land and the surrounding region has to offer and create their own custom itineraries. Visitors will also be able to purchase tickets to local tourism attractions in the future.
